Stage 1 Business and Innovation
BPS bites Shark!
On Tuesday 19 November, 20 students from the Stage 1 Business and Innovation class attended the Australian Shark Tank – Venture Showcase held at the Adelaide Convention Centre. The showcase was an extension of the Shark Tank television program with high profile shark, Steve Baxter, in attendance as chief judge.
Students competed in five categories against over 500 students from 20 public and private schools.
Blackfriars entered five teams with a strong focus on technology and innovation. Teams Nift, Wired, Cantezy, Job.ly and Sense-Us provided a wide range of application based products that included food ordering systems to home detection systems.
Blackfriars performed admirably with each team setting up a display and presenting their product to a Shark Tank judge by way of a three minute business pitch. All of the Blackfriars teams got to meet and pitch to chief judge Steve Baxter. Team NIFT were particularly impressive receiving an award from Steve Baxter for their presentation and business pitch.
Students were able to interact with teams from other schools providing a valuable learning experience.
Special thanks to Mr O’Brien and Ms Johnson for coordinating the program.
