Author Jackie French with Year 5, 6 & 7 Blackfrairs Students

Library News

It is hard to believe we are just two weeks away from the end of the school year for the students. It is the Year 10 and 11’s who are on exams now, and we would like to remind them that all their books (text and novels) must be returned by Monday Week 7 at the latest.

We are happy to allow students from Year 4 upwards to borrow books over the holidays, but they must have a clear record first, with nothing overdue or outstanding. Borrowing for the holidays will begin next week.

Last week students from Year 5, 6, and 7 were entertained by the wonderful Jackie French. About 40 students from neighbouring schools attended as well, and all found her sessions interesting and informative. She explained how and why she started writing (to pay for her car registration!) and how wombats came to be a prominent feature in her life. In speaking about her popular Hitler trilogy, she had some thought-provoking comments on the human psyche, and how feelings such as hatred and love are contagious. The boys were given plenty of food for thought!

The much-anticipated pizza lunch for the senior boys who completed the PRC this year will be taking place tomorrow. The medals and certificates have all been sorted and will be passed on to Home Group teachers next week for distribution. Another year of the PRC comes to an end, and I would like to send a huge thank you to Mrs Kate Haskey who has been the person responsible for virtually everything to do with it. She has collected the paperwork, input all the data, sorted out the certificates and medals and allocated them, and, with Ms Kirsty Adderley, organised the pizza lunch invitations and selections. Thank you both for your work here.
