St Albert the Great Mass

Dear Blackfriars Community

End of Year Mass

My deep appreciation to the Blackfriars family community for your outstanding response and attendance at the End of Year and St Albert the Great Mass. It was very heartening to look out from the lectern and see the Fr John Neill (OP) Gymnasium filled with parents, students and staff enthusiastically celebrating our Four Pillars of Prayer, Study, Service and Community and thanking God for the 2019 School Year.

Primary School Class teachers and Secondary School Homegroup teachers are currently following up with parents and students (R-11) who did not attend the evening and who did not inform the School of their absence from this most important community event.

The End of Year and St Albert the Great Mass for 2020 is to be celebrated on Thursday, 12 November 2020.  Please make this event a priority and place in your 2020 electronic and hard copy calendars.

Summer Uniform Clarification

Primary and Secondary Students who wear the specially designed short sleeve summer shirt with the School Crest may wear the shirt outside of their shorts during Term 1 and  Term 4 of the School Year.

Students who choose to wear a shirt with long sleeves, must wear the shirt tucked in.

Students who choose to wear the School tie, must wear the shirt tucked in.

The Uniform Shop personnel are aware of these guidelines and will assist parents purchasing the summer uniform with appropriate advice.

Annual Parent Survey

As important members of the School community I invite and encourage you to participate in the Annual Parent/Caregiver Survey.  The survey is designed to offer parents/caregivers with an opportunity to provide the School with invaluable insight and feedback regarding their experience of Blackfriars throughout 2019. The survey results will underpin my understanding of parent/caregiver perception regarding what is working well in our School and importantly, any concerns that may require improvement of our processes and programs to deliver better outcomes for your son and your family.

Blackfriars aspires to provide excellence in the education of boys in the Dominican tradition.

The focus and objective for Blackfriars is to be an outstanding school for the education of boys and your constructive feedback will assist and guide our reflection and discernment in our continuous development for improvement.

The survey should take about 5-8 minutes of your time.  Please click on the link to access the survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SL7MMYK

Gratitude

We are now entering the final couple of weeks for the 2019 School Year.  So many events have already occurred and still there are some to follow, such as the Secondary and Middle School Awards Assemblies, Year 12 Graduation Dinner, the Primary Awards and Carols evening and the Volunteers Appreciation event.

In recognition of all that has occurred and that which is still to happen I wish to acknowledge the dedication and commitment of staff responsible for ensuring that all these end of year celebrations are delivered in a professional and logistical manner.

The hours of organisation and the coordination of the events must be administered in addition to the normal working day of a school, but somehow things come together and the celebrations are a wonderful success, marking milestones of significance for students and families.  My sincere thanks to our staff.
