International Women's Day

Choose to Challenge

International Women's Day Breakfast

With International Women’s Day being celebrated around the world on 8 March, we marked this significant event with our International Women’s Day Breakfast and “#ChooseToChallenge” whole School activities. Our keynote presenters at our International Women’s Day Breakfast were Alexandra Nikolsky (alumna from Class 2005) and Jessica Biernacki (alumna from Class of 2010).

Challenge yourself

Alexandra spoke passionately about her less than conventional journey towards medicine and the need for women to challenge themselves, challenge others who say “you cannot” and to be fearless.

Women need to actively support one another

Jessica, also a doctor, spoke equally fervently about the need for women to actively support one another in substantive ways, disregarding the commentary that limits horizons, and urged all women to challenge the damaging social constructs, which limit women.

All the presenters were beacons of hope and stood out as young women who were not afraid to pursue the unconventional. In listening to them talk, I reflected upon how they embody the very qualities, which we wish each of our young women to grow: passion, regard for other, accountability, fearlessness, creativity, integrity, empathy and ability to empower other young women.

Alumnae Photographers - Jaimie (2019) and Indy (2020)

It is always a happy day when we have our alumnae back, and even better when they are here taking on a new role.

Thanks to Indy (Class of 2020) and Jaimie (Class of 2019) who captured our International Women's Day Breakfast recently and will be working with us on future events.
