Assistant Principal News

This Monday the 21st of September the Year 12 students will complete their journey at Marian Catholic College. We will celebrate their faith journey with a 10am Mass, followed by their Final Assembly at 12pm. Both events will be live streamed so that families can be part of our celebrations, despite the physical restrictions that are currently necessary.

The students have still taken part in festivities with their Homeroom and subject teachers and have enjoyed their final weeks celebrating together. Despite COVID altering their Year 12 journey this group have weathered the challenge with resilience and a smile. We wish them all the best with their studies in the lead up to their exams and we look forward to celebrating with them again at their College Graduation when their HSC concludes.

Year 12 Semester Two Reports are now available through Compass.

Parents and students can click on the ‘View Academic Reports’ link under the Student Dashboard Profile or click on the ‘Reports’ tab from the Student’s Profile, and then ‘Year 12 Semester Two Reports’. This will download a PDF of the report.

For each subject, teachers have reported on:

• Commitment to Learning

• Trial Exam Rank

• Trial Exam Mark

• Final Assessment Rank

• Commendations and Recommendations

We encourage all parents to have conversations with their children about what they have done well, what they need to improve, how they can do this and how they can support their child. Students should also take note of recommendations made by teachers to effectively prepare for their upcoming HSC Exams.

Our Year 11 students are one week into their Preliminary Examinations. I am pleased to say that students have coped well with their first batch of Stage 6 Examinations.

Next week student examinations will take place in the L Block to accommodate the Year 12 Final Assembly. I wish the students all the best for their remaining exams.

Finally, this Tuesday the College Senior Leadership Team will take part in the Dicesan Wide Learning Collaborative Program through Zoom. Educational researcher and leader in School improvement Lyn Sharratt will Zoom MCC Staff Leaders from Canada.

Our College has been leaders amongst the Diocese in successfully implementing this initiative, and as such, we look forward to sharing our great work with the Diocese.

We wish everyone a happy and safe holiday and look forward to seeing you all in Term 4.

Yours in Learning,

Lora Segrave and Damien Herb
