Student Success

Katie G (Year 8)

Katie G recently competed in Life Saving Victoria State Championships. She competed in both beach and water events. She medalled in team and individual events. Individually she received a gold in the individual swim, silver in the Iron and bronze in the individual board. She also received the award of LSV U13 water champion for 2021/2022.

She did an amazing job and displayed courage, persistence and sportsmanship within her own team, her club and in her interaction with members of other clubs. She’s also achieved her Surf Rescue Certificate allowing her to patrol and give back to the community. Well done, Katie!

Australian Surf Life Saving Championships

Katie G (Year 8), Lily G (Year 9) and Annabelle H (Year 10) competed at the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships at the Gold Coast over the weekend. Against the best in the country, they had some great results!

In individual events:

  • Lily finished 4th in the surf swim final. Amazing result!
  • Katie finished in the top 15 in all of her finals of swim, board and iron woman (moving through heats, quarter finals, semi finals and finals). She also completed a 2km swim and board rescue on day two. Katie was approximately one of 4 girls to achieve all finals. Fantastic result!
  • Annabelle made it to the semi-finals in both the board and surf race. A great effort!

Lily and Annabelle competed in the board relay team and placed 12th in the final. They also did an amazing job in the board rescue.

World's Greatest Shave Participants – The Johns Brothers!

The school would like to recognise and support the fundraising efforts made by both of the Johns brothers, Kieran (Year 9) and Declan (Year 11), last weekend. They both participated in the World’s Greatest Shave and raised over $3000 for the Leukaemia foundation. This effort was to support of their cousin (another bayside community member) who was recently diagnosed with Leukaemia.

If you would like to support the boys' efforts, you can continue to donate to their site via the following link.
