School Council Report

As we near the end of the first term of 2022, I would like to take the opportunity to welcome our new members of School Council.

We have three new members this year, two parent reps, Warwick Sassman and Kerryn Kohl, and a new student rep, Lua C.

In continuing in our efforts to ensure a safe journey for all our students to and from school, we are delighted to tell you that Bayside City Council has supported our request to implement 'clearways' at certain times in bike lanes on Reserve Road. This important change will allow our students to safely ride to school along this road, without the added danger that parked cars present, also helping to improve the safety of the community by encouraging students to ride safely on the road, instead of on footpaths. Our partnership with Bayside City Council is very important to the school, and I would like to thank the Council for its engagement on this important matter. We are continuing discussions with VicRoads, in an effort to achieve the same or a similar outcome on Balcombe Road, so as to benefit all students cycling to and from school.

It was wonderful to be present at the official opening of Stage Two of our school last week, another hugely significant investment by the Government in our College and the Beaumaris community. On behalf of Council I would like to thank the State Government for its continued investment in Beaumaris Secondary College and, in particular, the Member for Mordialloc, Tim Richardson, and the Members for Southern Metropolitan, Enver Erdogan and Nina Taylor. I would also like to thank the Member for Sandringham, Brad Rowswell, for his continued bipartisan support for our college.

I hope you are able to have a restful break with friends and family over the holiday period, and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone back for Term Two in late April.

Kind Regards
