Grade 6 Urban Camp

Grade 6 Urban Camp

Well where do we begin!! We were lucky enough to attend this extraordinary Melbourne camp. On this camp we did various things such as The Old Melbourne Gaol, St Kilda Beach and The Eureka tower. We will talking about each and every thing in depth. Let’s start from the very beginning, the bus ride up. The bus ride up took what felt like an eternity, we saw the Yarra river, The Melbourne star and much more. Once we arrived at our destination it was time to break into little groups of 5 to 8 students. Once we had broken up into our groups it was then time to get out of the cold and rain and into the Sea Life Aquarium. There was so many different aquatic animals and many different species of sea life. There were Sharks, Penguins, Starfish and many more amazing marine life. Whilst in Sea Life we watched a 4D short clip of ice age. Sea Life was such an amazing experience and would definitely recommend to any and all ages. After Sea Life we had an hour to 2 hour break before The Old Melbourne Gaol. We split into two larger groups and completed two different tours, learning all about the Gaol and its history. After the Gaol we had the longest break of the trip. During this time many groups grouped up together and went and did some sightseeing and visiting the local shops.  Lots of groups during this time went to Starbucks, Melbourne Central and various other places. After our break we walked to Marvel Stadium and had dinner at Nandos. After dinner we jumped on a tram and flew off to M.S.A.C. (Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre).  At M.S.A.C we got into our bathers and had to do a swim test. After the swim test we had a couple of turns on the first large inflatable and then went into a wave pool, it was super fun. Once we were done in the wave pool we went and played volley ball in the pool and had some great fun. After volley ball we went on a second inflatable. After that we got back into our school uniform and took a tram back to our hotel where we had a much deserved sleep.

On the Thursday we did the Amazing race. We went to a large amount of places around the city. We went to Luna park (not inside though), St Kilda beach, Queen Victoria Market, China Town and many other great places. Many groups finished the amazing race. For dinner that night we went to an Italian restaurant and ate pizza and pasta. After dinner we had the choice on whether we went on the night walk or went back to the hotel to have an early night. Those who went on the night walk, walked from the dinner all the way to Crown Casino where we sat outside watching a fire display along the river. After that we went back to the hotel.

Our Final day started by being woken up at 7, packed our bags and went out for breakfast. After breakfast we went to the Eureka Tower. Most or all of the students went into the edge. Many people absolutely loved it. After that we had a lunch break and then went on a Yarra River Cruise. The Melbourne Urban Camp was such an amazing experience and would highly recommend that every single student who gets the chance jumps on it as soon as possible.
