Be Positive Theme of the Fortnight

“Everyone has the right to feel safe / Personal Safety”

This term, our Be Positive program focuses largely on child safety and helping the kids to develop skills in understanding their body, what are private parts, secrets (good and bad) and how to respond if you are not feeling comfortable. This fortnight will be focussed on feeling safe as a person.

If you are looking to find out more about discussing personal safety with your child, we can certainly recommend Bravehearts who have a resource section where parents can buy invaluable resources to help educate their children around personal safety.

In addition to Bravehearts there are lots of books that can support parents/carers to broach the topic in a considered manner. Below are some that you may find useful:

Community Code of Conduct

Every now and then, we like to share with our community information that helps us to work together successfully. A little while ago, our school developed (in consultation with school council and parent groups) a Community Code of Conduct. We have attached this document for your reference and to hopefully provide some light around what is expected for all stakeholders.

Police Visit - Developing an Awareness of Community Safety

Yesterday, our Preps had a wonderful visit from our local police officers, Sean Almeida and Mark Arnold. The kids were able to learn lots about how police work to keep everyone in the community safe and were then able to check out the police car, its siren and the red and blue lights.

Uniform Reminders

Now the sun is shining we are seeing more children in shorts.  Just a reminder that our school uniform is plain black shorts with no logos. We have three types of shorts in stock – cargo, micro fibre and rugby knit as well as the box pleat and sports skort. Please Note: It is a requirement for students to wear plain black shorts.  When purchasing school shorts for your child, please keep this in mind. Feel free to come in to have a look or call the office to order and pay over the phone and we will send them home with your child.

A reminder to everyone that school hats must be worn during break times during terms 1 and 4.  If your child doesn’t have a hat, please get them one as soon as possible. It is your choice whether your child wears a broad brimmed hat or the bucket hat.  We have both in supply at our uniform shop.
