Thank you to all students and families who attended the Middle Years Showcase last week. 

 

ABODA

Next week on Thursday 24 and Friday 25 August we have five ensembles competing in the State wide ABODA Festival. On Thursday 24 the Concert Bands will be performing and on Friday the Stage Bands are performing at Westminster School, Marion. The On Stage Times are as follows:

 

Thursday 24 August

Concert Band 2 – 10.50am

Concert Band 3 – 12.20pm

Concert Band 1 – 2.15pm

 

Friday 25 August

Stage Band 2 – 11.00am

Stage Band 1 – 2.45pm

 

Please come and support the students. Admission is a gold coin.

 

Annual Music Concert

Our largest event for the year will take place on Thursday 30 August at the Woodville Town Hall. A letter has gone home this week outlining information for the ensembles involved. We are asking for donations for our raffle to be brought to Ms Anastasia Lambis in the Front Office and offers of sweet donations to be sold on the evening to be communicated via email – we already know that we are going to have some beautiful cannolis on sale. Tickets are selling fast and can be purchased via https://www.trybooking.com/XHBR. There will be limited tickets available at the door. All parents, friends and students of the community are invited to attend. The evening will be filled with wonderful music, drinks, nibbles and raffle prizes to be won.

 

Catholic School’s Music Festival

Information regarding the Catholic School’s Music Festival has been sent home. Blackfriars has a strong representation throughout the week.

 

Monday 10 September – 6/7 Choir 1st row Festival Choir, Stage Band 1 Support Act, 10 Students part of Baritone Group

Tuesday 11 September – Senior Vocal Support Act, eight Students part of Baritone Group

Wednesday 12 September - Eight Students part of Baritone Group

Thursday 13th September - Eight Students part of Baritone Group

 

Congratulations to Lorenzo and Vince Ravida who have also been successful in singing solos at the event.

 

Scholarships

A reminder that the Middle Years Music Scholarship and Organ Scholarship applications close on Thursday 30 August. Auditions will take place in Term 4. It is a wonderful opportunity for students and all eligible students are encouraged to apply. More information can be accessed via http://www.bps.sa.edu.au/enrolment/scholarships

 

Congratulations

Congratulations to Nathan Dang in Year 11 who participated in the City of Adelaide Eisteddfod Flute Division 2018 representing Blackfriars. He was a prize winner in the following sections:

 

16 Years and Under Flute Solo – 2nd Place

18 Years and Under Flute Solo – 3rd Place

Open Flute Solo – 2nd Place

 

An absolutely outstanding achievement.

 

Also congratulations goes to Daniel Marshall in Year 6 for being chosen for a solo at the Catholic School’s Music Festival He will perform on the Monday and Thursday evenings. Well done, Daniel!
