Our ELC children recently enjoyed Patch Theatre Company's Production of "The Very Cranky Bear"

Library News

The Library Team is very excited that Book Week begins next week as we have been working hard to promote this annual celebration of Australian authors and books over the last few years. The theme for this year is ‘Find your Treasure’ and both primary and senior libraries have been decked out accordingly. The students from ELC to Year 12 will be involved in a variety of activities in their Home Groups, Classrooms and of course in the Library. Some activities have already begun, with official events being held from Monday 20 August to Friday the 24 August.

Our Early Learning Centre children attended a Patch Theatre Company presentation of The Very Cranky Bear. This beautiful picture book was presented with much music, rhythm and glitz.  Three of our children were invited on stage to be part of the performance. They managed themselves with poise in front of such a large audience.

We look forward to examining the CBCA short-listed books in more detail over the coming week after the winners are announced this Friday and the event will culminate with our biannual Book Week Parade.  We hope the children have helped with the planning and “making” of their costumes. A reminder that we do not want the children to hire costumes but to give some thought to things they might have at home or could make that can be incorporated into a costume. We would like to extend an invitation to families to join us for the colour and excitement of the Book Week Parade on Friday 24 August at 9:00am in the Gym. Young and “young at heart” spectators are encouraged to dress up!

In the Senior School we have been stocking up the chocolates for our annual morning quiz, treasure hunt and guessing competition. We hope the senior boys get their treasure knowledge up to speed by Monday because there are plenty of treats waiting for them to share.

We would also like to draw your attention to a charity called “Treasure Boxes” supported by one of our staff members. It is an Adelaide based not for profit organisation that aims to ease the anxiety, stress and trauma thrust on children affected by domestic violence, poverty and homelessness. To learn more about the organisation please use the following link: (https://www.treasureboxes.org.au/). We are organising a collection point in the Primary Library if you would like to make a donation. (Donations include gold coins, item of clothing, toys or books).
