Freeman House News

Freeman House  - Welcome Back!

Welcome back to all of our Freeman students and a very big welcome to all our new students in year 7 and other levels. We are thrilled to have you join us as members of the Hampton Park Secondary College Community. It was a warm welcome to the year 7 students with a program developed to help them feel familiar with the school as well as set them up for a great year of learning. All other year levels spent a day focused on learning dispositions to help develop their learning habits ready for the new school year.

We have been under the House System for a year now and we can see pride developing amongst students in their houses and the connections between the students and their House Leadership Teams. There will be a number of competitions over the year where students can win house points that go towards the house cup (2023 is Freeman’s year!). Keep an eye out on Teams and Compass to look out for opportunities to win house points.

The Freeman House Team looks forward to working with all Freeman students and their families over the coming year.

Meet the Freeman Student Leaders

Each house, has 2 Student Leaders that work with staff on a regular basis to discuss school matters and represent students in and around the College community. This year the fantastic Freeman Leaders are Sanchika Jeyanthan and EJ Dichoso. This Newshamper we introduce to you Sanchika and we will feature EJ in our next edition of the Newshamper.

Sanchika (Chiko) Jeyanthan

Hi everyone, some of you may know me but for those who don’t, I’m Chiko and I’m your Freeman College Captain. I wanted to be a House Leader because it was something that I’ve always wanted to do. I remember back when I was in year 7, I would see all these College Captains and other leaders around the school, and I always looked up to them. I imagined myself being one of them and I am more than thrilled that I am at that place now. I also love public speaking which is one of the other reasons I applied for this leadership position. As a College Captain I am hoping that I’ll be able to make changes that you guys would love to see in the school. If you ever see me around and want to talk about something you want to see happen in the school, come and chat. I’m really excited to be your College Captain and look forward to helping you guys out with anything that you need.
