Learning Disposition Start Up Program
On the first day back for our students the Learning Disposition Start Up Program ran across the day. This was to support our students in their return to school, starting their week in a positive, collaborative way that encouraged them to think critically and creatively with their peers to complete engaging activities. Our students explored resourcefulness and resilience through these sessions as well to set up a year of striving for their personal best no matter the challenges they may face throughout their year of learning.
Approximately 35 of our students across Years 8 to 12 undertook a larger challenge of preparing and delivering these sessions to younger students. This involved weekly meetings to explore the various sessions on offer, practice with their peers and prepare for the sessions in the lead up to the start of 2023. For many of these students this was the first time they had undertaken such a task and was a chance for both learning and personal growth. I am so incredibly proud of the group I was so lucky to work with and guide through this preparation process. The student leaders ran these sessions confidently, positively and professionally with the support of the supervising teacher in the room cheering them on.
Well done to the following students that demonstrated a commitment to preparing and delivering these sessions:

Special mention also to a few students that stepped in on the day to support the leaders!
Thank you to the teachers that supported these student leaders in a moment that was no doubt both nerve wracking and exciting. I also want to extend a shout out to all staff that ran these sessions across the year levels – without your positive leadership of these sessions the start of the year could not be the engaging and fun exploration of our Learning Dispositions that they were for our students!
If you enjoyed the sessions or had student leaders run a session in your class, I encourage you to consider whether you want to push yourself outside your comfort zone, learn public speaking skills and the ability to work with your peers by taking on this challenge next year! Students will have the opportunity to express interest to be a part of this awesome opportunity for next year later in the year. Why wait until then! Get involved in as many opportunities to develop your leadership skills whether that is through an official leadership position, our peer support program or the various opportunities across the year to represent your college, year level or house!
