Chaplain's Chat

Excitement is building amongst the 11 students and 3 staff who make up the team partnering with Habitat for Humanity. We are participating in their Global Village Program to assist in their aim of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. This ‘learning service’ experience provides an opportunity for students personal growth, teamwork, intercultural understanding and global awareness. Habitat for Humanity’s guiding principle is to provide a “hand up, not a hand out” to help a family and community in need. It is an outworking of the school’s Christian values and beliefs as we seek to partner with a community in Cambodia in this cultural exchange.

Our community can be involved with us!

Firstly you can find out more about our project here. There is also an opportunity to make a voluntary tax-deductible donation to our fundraising target which would be kindly received and appreciated.

We are also running two recycling fundraisers that will greatly benefit from your support.

  • Vehicle Battery Recycling

If you have any obsolete, car, tractor, motorbike or truck batteries available, we will be collecting them to recycle and have a drop off location near our Year 12 Carpark (near the velodrome). We will then on sell them for scrap metal and donate the funds to Habitat for Humanity. It is important to be safe when transporting or carrying these batteries. Inside the batteries is a harmful acid so safety precautions are needed, such as gloves, goggles and old clothes.

  • Plastic/Glass Bottle & Can Recycling

We will have three recycling bins in the Secondary, Primary and canteen area where families can drop off any empty plastic/glass bottles and cans. Our team will then recycle these through the Moama Bottle Recycling Station and donate the funds to Habitat.

Look out for the signed recycling locations.

We appreciate your support!

Please email Mr Tim Bowles (tbowles@moamagrammar.nsw.edu.au) if you have any questions about supporting these fundraising initiatives.

1 Peter 3:8 Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.

We would value your support and prayers as we prepare and fundraise for Habitat for Humanity in living out our school core value of Compassion.
