Year 8

Introduction to Shakespeare

"A fool thinks himself to be wise, but a wise man knows himself to be a fool.” As You Like It

Did you know Shakespeare invented over 1700 words that are still used in English today? This term, our Year 8 students are learning about the ongoing influence of Shakespeare, researching some of his quirky phrases and linking them back to the plays that immortalised these enduring lines.

Inquire and Explore Excursion

The Year 8 Inquiry and Explore Excursion is happening at Little Tree Echuca every fortnight this term. Moama Anglican Grammar are the first school students to participate in this experience, where they explore the environment and a particular interest of their choice.

The Italian Pen Pal Project

Recently Moama Grammar has Introduced a new program called Italian Pen Pals. Students who were interested could join the program and get an Italian pen pal, which is a student from Italy. I personally like the pen pals program because it is a wonderful Idea and you get to reach out and connect with students from another country. It also links into the Italian trip that you take later in senior school. If you go on that trip you get to meet them in person. I have recently been talking to my pen pal and her name is Viola. She is fifteen years old and has one dog called Peggy and a cat Leoni. She does competitive figure skating outside of school and loves Australia. I can’t wait to someday meet her.

Heidi McIntosh

Hello, my name is Quinn, and I am a year 7 student who is taking part in the Moama Grammar Pen Pal program. I like this program because it is a great way to talk to people from different countries that are around your age. Another reason that I like this program is because when you get to senior school you will have the chance to take a trip to Italy and see your pen pal. I joined this a few weeks before the term one holidays and have been sending a lot of emails to my pen pal and receiving a lot of them back. My pen pal’s name in Eleonora and she lives in Bassano, Italy. She has a dog named Luna who is a cardigan corgi, and she really wants to visit Australia, and she wants to go to the beach. Her favourite singer is the one and only Taylor Swift!! Eleonora lives near mountains and loves to explore them with her friends.
