Year 8 Girls Netball
On Thursday 25 June, our Year 8 girls travelled to Jubilee Park in Frankston for their netball competition. The day began with foggy and chilly conditions, but the sunshine soon emerged, providing perfect weather for a fantastic day of netball.
Both our A and B teams had an outstanding day, finishing as runners-up in their respective divisions.
The A Team started strongly, recording convincing wins over Carrum Downs Secondary College, Mt Erin College, McClelland College and Elisabeth Murdoch College. The girls dominated these matches, winning by margins ranging from 12 to 25 goals.
Their final game was against a very strong Frankston High School side. Despite putting up a determined fight and never giving up, the girls were outplayed across the court and went down by 10 goals. The team should be incredibly proud of finishing runners-up and playing such impressive netball throughout the day.
Special congratulations to Rose P, who was a reliable target in goals and shot with great accuracy and Olive C, whose ability to read the play led to numerous intercepts as she anchored the defence.
The B Team also enjoyed a successful day, winning four of their five matches against Carrum Downs Secondary College, Monterey Secondary College, McClelland College and Elisabeth Murdoch College. Like the A Team, their final match was against a strong Frankston High School outfit, who proved too good on the day.
The girls displayed excellent teamwork and skill across all five matches and were rewarded with a runners-up finish.
Well done to Maddie R, who was a versatile and dependable player throughout the day and Georgia H, whose strong defensive efforts were a highlight.
Both teams should be extremely proud of their efforts, results and the way they represented the school. Throughout the day, all players demonstrated excellent netball skills, teamwork and sportsmanship.

Year 8 Soccer
On Thursday 25 June, the Patterson River Secondary College Year 8 Boys Soccer team travelled to Aspendale to play three games, facing off against Carrum Downs Secondary College, McClelland College and Frankston High School.
The entire team played with spirit, showed real support for one another and played hard and fair, placing third.
McClelland College won the day, followed by Frankston High School, but in both of our games against these teams we competed hard and took the game up to them.
All players should carry this sportsmanship and effort with them to their next sporting endeavours!

Year 8 Badminton
On Thursday 25 June, Year 8 Badminton was hosted at Patterson River Secondary College, with competitors attending from schools across the Northern Peninsula Secondary Division. Patterson River Secondary College came in fifth overall.
A standout performance from Raya K in the girl’s division, with most overall sets won throughout the day. Congratulations to all students involved on their effort and participation.

External Sport Achievements Fred F
We are once again proud to celebrate Fred F, Year 7 for his outstanding achievements in diving outside of school sport. Fred competed at the School Sport Australia (SSA) 10 – 19 Years Diving Championships, held in Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre (MSAC) from July 25 to July 31.
Competing in the 12-year-old age group, Fred had an exceptional week, winning National Gold, Silver and Bronze medals while proudly representing Victoria and Patterson River Secondary College.
Fred claimed his first National Gold Medal in the Boys Knockout event, an incredible achievement.
After progressing through three elimination rounds, he secured the gold with the highest-scoring dive of the final round: a spectacular 5233D Dive (back one-and-one half somersault one-and-one-half twist).
Fred also earned a Silver Medal in the Team Synchro event and a Bronze Medal in the Synchro Event. In addition, he placed 5th placed in the 3m Springboard and 6th in the 5m Platform Event.
Congratulations Fred on your outstanding performance at the National Championships. We are incredibly proud of your dedication, hard work and success!
