Year 12 Legal Studies Excursion
The Year 12 Legal Studies class visited the Frankston Magistrates’ Courts in June. Students got to see real life criminal cases and watch how our Victorian criminal justice system aims to provide fairness, equality and access for all.
We were very lucky to speak with a lawyer from Victoria Legal Aid about how the service can assist and represent defendants at disadvantage within the system and to meet with and discuss career pathways with Magistrate Victoria Campbell,who also let the students sit on the bench between cases.

VCE VM Beach Clean Up
As part of their Year 12 Community Project unit of work, VCE VM students walked down to the Carrum Foreshore and met with conservation workers from City of Kingston. These staff members shared with the students about their career journey and qualifications which lead them to being a part of the Conservation crew.
They also spoke about the many volunteer groups which help to keep our local beaches clean. Students then took part in a clean up amongst the sand dunes with the area being surprisingly clean already. Thanks to all those who took part.

Year 10 Rock Climbing
On Wednesday 12 August, Year 10 Outdoor Education made their way out to Bayside Rock for their first excursion.
Whilst there, they undertook three activities; Bouldering, Indoor Caving and Top Rope Climbing. During the Bouldering, the students challenged themselves with the low, but technical, climbs as a way to build their confidence in the climbing.
They extended further on this with Top Rope climbing, where they demonstrated team work and persistence as they climbed up the wall and to the roof, before being gently helped back to solid ground. In caving, students challenged themselves as they moved through tight, dark tunnels, which pushed many outside their comfort zone.
Well done to Parker who was able to complete the most difficult tunnel.

Year 12 Snow Camp
At the start of August, both Year 12 Outdoor and Environmental Studies classes made their way to Mt Baw Baw for their annual Snow Camp.
The students were greeted by snow as we drove up the mountains and continual snow for the majority of their trip. This gave the students fantastic conditions to begin their snowboarding journey.
Students firstly participated in a lesson, before having further time to work on their new favourite hobby and continue to improve. It was fantastic to see so many students out and enjoying the outdoors, despite the numerous stacks and falls that come with learning to snowboard.
Students also enjoyed a night time exam revision class, but this was not as well received as snowboarding strangely. A big thanks to Mr James, Ms Ford, Mr Cashmore and Ms Pridmore for coming along on the camp.

Year 12 Camp
On the last 2 days of Term 2 Year 12 students braved the cold on their overnight camp in Merricks.
We started the camp off by visiting Enchanted Maze at Arthurs Seat where students were able to tree surf, go tube sliding and enjoy the mazes and gardens that the park offered.
We then moved on to Peninsula Outdoors Camp where students settled into their cabins before dinner and our ‘Dress for the Wrong Occasion’ Trivia evening.
After finishing the Trivia evening our VCE VM students travelled back to school so they could attend work placements. The rest of the cohort ate supper and went off to their cabins for some much-needed rest.
Day 2 of camp started with students undertaking some planned workshops around team building and life after school. A big thanks to Mr Garton, Mr Walton and Mr Cafiso for some fantastic information for our students.
Following this our students were engaged by our motivational speaker Luke Kennedy. Luke spoke about bullying, pressure, mental health and choices. In particular Luke encouraged our students to create behaviour change in order to reach their full potential.
Overall, all students and staff who attended camp thoroughly enjoyed themselves. A fantastic way to finish the Semester and to re-set for the remainder of the of the year.
