Year 7 Mid Term Review
It is hard to believe that our Year 7 students have completed their first semester of secondary school. The first semester has been filled with learning, growth and participation and our students continue to embrace every opportunity that comes their way.
Following the release of Semester 1 reports, students have been reflecting on their progress and setting goals for the months ahead. This important process encourages them to recognise their strengths, identify areas for improvement and take ownership of their learning journey.
We are proud of the mature and positive way our students have approached this reflection. Part of the goal setting has seen students receive and unpack their NAPLAN results. We are so proud of their achievements and hope this important work inspires students to reach their best potential as the year progresses.
Beyond the classroom, many students have excelled in a variety of sporting pursuits. Whether representing the school in team sports, competing at district events or simply demonstrating commitment and perseverance, our students have shown outstanding sportsmanship and school spirit.
We have also seen our performing arts on display this term. Many Year 7 students participated in the Wakikirri performance with enthusiasm, dedication and confidence. We were also wowed by our talented band students performing at the Values Award Assemblies. Their performances added a special atmosphere to these celebrations and highlight the many musical talents within our Year 7 cohort.
We would like to congratulate the students who took part in the German Poetry Competition. Performing poetry in another language requires courage, practice and skill and we are incredibly proud of the effort and enthusiasm shown by all participants.
Our lunchtime clubs continue to be popular and provide students with valuable opportunities to connect, build friendships and enjoy shared interests. The Monday Girls' Lunch offers a welcoming space for students to socialise and support one another, while Tuesday Games with Maria has become a favourite for students looking to relax, have fun and meet new friends.
We are incredibly proud of everything our Year 7 students have achieved so far this year. Their willingness to get involved, challenge themselves and support one another is helping to build a positive and connected Year 7 community. We look forward to seeing what they achieve in the months ahead.

Year 8 Golden Valleys Adventure Camp
Our Year 8 camp at Golden Valleys Adventure Camp in Flinders proved to be an outstanding success. Despite the cold, wet and wintry conditions, our students embraced the challenging activities with great gusto and enthusiasm.
It is perhaps not surprising that one of the most popular activities was the outdoor cooking experience, where students cooked damper over an open fire and enjoyed it with a generous spread of honey or jam, accompanied by a cup of Billy Tea.
Other popular activities included the Giant Swing, Rock Climbing Wall and Leap of Faith. Our students not only showed a willingness to have a go and challenge themselves, but were also incredibly supportive and encouraging of one another throughout the camp.
It was wonderful to see students stepping outside their comfort zones, embracing new experiences and demonstrating such great teamwork and resilience.

Year 9 Learning For Life
Term 3 has been an exciting and highly engaging term for our Year 9 students in the Learning for Life Program, with a diverse range of learning experiences, curriculum and activities designed to challenge, inspire and support their continued development.
Throughout the term, students have embraced the many opportunities presented to them, demonstrating enthusiasm, resilience and a willingness to participate in all that has been offered to them.
To celebrate the experiences and achievements of our students this term, let’s hear from our Year 9 Leaders as they reflect on their term so far, the opportunities they have embraced and the valuable lessons they have gained through the Learning for Life program.
Term 3 we’ve been looking at plenty of things to do with careers including making our own resumes, completing our Morrisby interviews to see what pathways suit us and finding the meaning of job terms. We’ve also been focusing on Respectful Relationships and have also taken part in the Elephant Ed incursion. Term 3 has already given great opportunities, so it will be exciting to see what more there is for the rest of it.

In Term 3 we began to look at possible future career paths. We were able to gauge what our skills, traits and interests lead to, with Morrisby testing. Following our Pathways unit we began our Health classes, where we discussed a variety of topics related to teenagers. We also had an Elephant Ed incursion to further understand different topics. This has been a very interesting and educational term so far and we cannot wait to experience the rest of Year 9.

This term we have been looking into our futures and the jobs that we may like to do. We have focused on our interests and the pathways that we need to take to get into that career.
Earlier in the term we went on a trip to the city to challenge us about our knowledge of the area. We did a scavenger hunt around all of Docklands and then had a fun time either bowling or ice skating.
Lastly, we have looked at the subjects that we would like to choose for next year. These can include our maths levels, sport, cooking or even VCE subjects. The start to Term 3 have been great and I am looking forward for what's to come.

With Term 3 over halfway done, we have been able to make lots of great memories and experienced excellent activities already. We started the term with a quick jump into jobs and careers insights to be able to properly choose next year’s experiences. Along with this we had a nice incursion from the people at Elephant Ed about inclusivity. We also have ventured into Melbourne where we showed our persistence ice skating. All-in-all we had a fantastic term that is only going to get better!

During this term we have had a heavy focus on our futures, by looking at careers, managing money and exploring subject choices for next year. We read Runner by Robert Newton as a class and have developed our English skills while focusing on essay writing and text analysis. Recently we have started our Respectful Relationships unit, which started off with an incursion from Elephant Education.

In Learning for Life this term, I have really enjoyed the city experience we had the opportunity to attend. We participated in an Amazing Race around the Docklands area, our teams completing challenges before heading off to either ice skating or bowling.
Term 3 has also been extremely knowledgeable and useful in preparing us for the years ahead. We were able to start thinking and delving deeper into career pathways we liked, while also sitting down with a professional from Morrisby to discuss how we could be successful and achieve certain careers.

This term in Year 9 has already been jam packed with fun experiences like city trips, pathway and career insights and interschool sports. We now have a focus on the book Runner where we have completed many English tasks. We have started a health unit around Respectful Relationships for teenagers to help build our knowledge and strategies.
Our Amazing Race City Trip was one of the highlights of the year with opportunities to explore the city on our own and end the day with either ice staking or bowling. With more experiences and Interschool Sport opportunities to look forward to in the term, it is definitely going to be fun.
