Principal's Report
I have been impressed this term with the amount of learning in the classroom along with extra curricula activities that our staff and students have been engaged with.
Over the last few weeks we have been undertaking a recruitment process to replace Adam Slater which is the first time in over 8 years that we have had a change to our Principal Class team! Following an extensive process, I am pleased to announce that Jeremy Woods has been provisionally appointed to the role as Assistant Principal (Student Operations). Jeremy is currently an Assistant Principal with a similar portfolio at Wheelers Hill Secondary College and has experience in school leadership in a number of schools in addition to Wheelers Hill such as Keysborough College and Yarram Secondary. We look forward to Jeremy starting with us in the coming weeks.
News Just In – School Nominated for National Award and ask to perform at State Wakakirri Awards Night!
Following our Performance of the original "The Tree That Watched Us Grow" at Frankston Arts Centre last week we have been nominated for the National Story-Dance Award and have been selected to perform at the upcoming Awards Night on Monday 7 September.
This is an massive achievement, given that over 191 schools participate across the country and a huge credit to our 76 students involved along with Ms Theodore and Ms Heazlewood who have put the show together.
The school also received 6 awards on the night which included the Spirit of Wakakirri Award, presented to just one school each performance night for demonstrating goodwill, supporting other schools, showing respect to staff and crew, and representing their school positively. A wonderful demonstration of our College Values in action!
NAPLAN - Best Ever Results!
Continuing a trend of year-on-year improvement, our Year 7 and Year 9 students have once again outperformed strongly in NAPLAN This year. This also includes strong Year 7–9 growth results.
At our recent Semester 1 Award Ceremonies, we took the time to celebrate students who had demonstrated High Growth between their Year 7 and Year 9 NAPLAN assessments along with students who had achieved 'Exceeding' in both Year 7 - 9.

Proposed Changes to eScooters and eBikes at School
In consultation with Victoria Police and local Secondary Schools, we are considering banning eBikes and eScooters at school. This is due to a number of near misses and complaints from members of the community about the dangers.
In addition to the safety concerns that have been raised, a recent audit at school found that the majority of eBikes and eScooters appear to either be illegal, are being ridden illegally (U16s riding Scooters) or ridden without a helmet.
To protect the safety of both students and members of the community we are considering banning both eScooters and eBikes from school grounds. Alternatively, we have also canvassed the option of monitoring and confiscated bikes and scooters that we consider to be ridden dangerously or are potentially illegal.
