Student Leadership Training

Student Leaders from Year 8 to Year 12 attended a day of learning in preparation for their important duties. There roles covered College and School Captains; SRC responsiblities; House leadership;  STEAM and Aerobics focus; and Peer Support. The Mentone Life Saving Club provided the ideal setting to focus priorities and make plans. They are ready for an exciting year ahead!

On Friday 6 February, the entire MGSC leadership team participated in the MGSC Leadership Training Day. It was an amazing opportunity to get together with all of the team, meet new faces, and discuss exciting ideas and goals for what we want to achieve as leaders in 2026 and what we can bring to the school community.

As a part of the Mackellar House team, we got together with every House and discussed lots of ideas involving a lift in House spirit for 2026, including ways to increase participation and build stronger House pride at school events. You definitely don’t want to miss out on what is coming!

MGSC is a member of International Coalition of Girls' Schools (ICGS).  In January they held a three-day residential conference in Sydney. Designed for students taking senior roles in 2026, the aim is to develop skills in leadership, team communication, conflict management and networking with other young women leaders from around Australia.

2026 College Captain Eva Longhurst attended and reported on this unique experience and the knowledge she will be able to share with fellow senior school leaders.
