The Library Book Mark Competition is open to all students.  Entries may be hand drawn (submit to the library desk on an A4 sheet of paper) or digitally created (emailed as an attachment PDF, JPG, Canva link to library@mgsc.vic.edu.au).  All bookmark entries must be original works created by the student.

As a guide/template, use size 5cm x 15cm.  Entries close at the end of week nine on Friday 27th March.  Ten winning book marks will be printed for students to use all year.  Two prizes will be given to the creators of the top two bookmarks.

We have received many colourful and creative entries which are now on display in the library foyer. Thank you to all of those students who have entered – and good luck!

Over the past two weeks the library has hosted an induction session for the Year 7s.  Students were introduced to the library spaces, the digital and print collection, before setting off on a scavenger hunt.  The ‘Scavenger Hunt’ is a creative exercise with the purpose familiarizing students with library resources so they will be able to search and find items independently.  The sessions wrapped up with students borrowing their first library book which will be used in Wider Reading Classes.

Book Club

Book Clubs are a great way to engage with students who share a love of literature as they will get the opportunity to read diverse books, share their ideas and gain new perspectives. The MGSC Book Club met last Wednesday to discuss holiday reading and chose two books to read this term.  These books are: The House in the Cerulean Sea by T J Klune and for the older readers, Great Big Beautiful Live by Emily Henry.  Both books are available for loan at the library desk.

New members are welcome to drop by the library or email library@mgsc.vic.edu.au with details of their name and class if they would like to join the mailing list.  Our next meeting is on Wednesday 25th March.
