Cattle

There's been a bit happening in the cattle area in the past week, with the purchase of our new bull and sending 2 of our animals off to be slaughtered for processing back at our butcher shop.

Some students were able to sit and listen to the bull sale online live from Gingin with Mrs Moore and Mrs Iles.  There was some excitement when we discovered that our top pick bull had been secured by Mr de Beer in another room!

We look forward to seeing how Vegemite performs during this year's breeding season.

Meanwhile, it's only a few short weeks until calves start arriving.  It'll be exciting to see some babies in the paddock after a year without them!

Butcher shop

Students will be busy in the next couple of weeks with 2 cows, 5 pigs and 12 sheep to process!  Thanks to Will Goodfield for allowing us to use his refrigerated truck to transport our quarters back from Northam where our cows were slaughtered.

The new railing system in the abattoir and butcher shop works a treat!

Grains

The lime has all been applied and it's now time for students to spread the gypsum.  Tom V. was out on the spreader getting over the hectares last week.
