MS Readathon - final update!

The MS Readathon is now complete!

Kalinda kids who signed up read 405 books, and raised almost $2500 to support people with MS and their families! This far exceeded our aims of 310 books and $500 raised. What an amazing effort Kalinda!

A Symphony of Stories! - Book Week 2026

Kalinda celebrated Book Week from August 17th - 21st. We had so many great activities happening in the library and around the school, including the Book Parade, the Kalinda Book of the Year vote, the Library’s annual poetry & story-writing competition, and… a very special author visit.

Year 5/6 Author Visit

On Thursday 20th August, the Year 5/6s were lucky enough to be visited by Elle McFadzean. Elle is not only a published children’s author, but also a past Kalinda student! Elle spoke to our senior students about the craft of writing, about writing fantasy worlds and stories, about creating characters that resonate, and about how she deals with problems like writer’s block.

The students were thoroughly engaged throughout and had a million questions afterwards, which Elle was very happy to answer. Students were able to get pieces of paper or their copies of her books signed, and many of them left the session brimming with ideas for their own fantasy stories that they have been working on.

We are looking forward to reading their fantasy stories once they are complete!
