YEAR 11
Leading The Way

Head of Year 11
It has been fantastic to see so many of our Year 11 students embracing VET pathway opportunities this year.
So far, eight Year 11 students have successfully signed school-based apprenticeships, with several more currently in progress. This is an outstanding achievement and reflects the initiative and commitment of our students as they begin building pathways toward future careers.
Students are currently undertaking apprenticeships and traineeships across a range of industries, including construction, hair and beauty, auto electrical, carpentry, fibre optics, heavy diesel, fabrication, and electrical trades.
I congratulate these students on the way they are stepping up and making the most of these valuable opportunities.
As we approach the halfway mark of Term 2, Year 11 students may begin to feel the pace and demands that come with senior schooling. Balancing assessment, part-time work, work placements, sport, and social pressures can feel challenging at times.
Following on from our “Marathon in the Making” message earlier this term, students are reminded that not every stage of training feels easy. Building resilience, maintaining routines, and continuing to show up on the harder days are all part of the journey.
Students are encouraged to seek support when needed through their Pastoral Mentors, Guidance Counsellors, teachers, or myself.

Applications for Semester 1, 2026 of the Non-State Schools Transport Assistance Scheme (NSSTAS) will open from 1 – 31 May.
The scheme provides financial assistance to families transporting students to non-state schools in Queensland through two programs:
Students with Disability - Assists students with a disability who have demonstrably different transport needs from other students of the same age.
