Laptop Care and Habits 

There has been a concerning increase in student laptops requiring repair, or students arriving at school with laptops that are not charged. Pastoral Mentors conduct regular visual checks on all Year 7 laptops, and ensure students are using their laptop bags correctly. Please take the time to reinforce the following key points regarding laptop care and use: 

• Establish a home routine to ensure laptops are charged overnight.  
• Make sure bag zips and straps are in good working order. 
• Report any issues to their Pastoral Mentor or IT Services.

• Remind students not to overfill their laptop bags, as this can cause unnecessary damage.

   

We appreciate your support in ensuring these vital learning tools are kept in good working order and ready for learning each day.  

Subject Spotlight: Year 7 Italian 

Year 7 Italian students are currently studying an exciting unit, La Musica – Music: Favourite Artist and Their Songs. 

Throughout the unit, students will explore their favourite artists while building vocabulary and confidence along the way. As part of their assessment, students are creating a multimodal presentation with a voice-over to showcase their chosen artist and songs. They will also put their speaking skills to the test through a spontaneous exam focused on discussing their music interests. 

With melody and language coming together, this term is sure to hit all the right notes!

WHOLE-OF-COLLEGE NOTICES

Non-State Schools Transport Assistance Scheme (NSSTAS)

Applications for Semester 1, 2026 of the Non-State Schools Transport Assistance Scheme (NSSTAS) will open from 1 – 31 May. 

The scheme provides financial assistance to families transporting students to non-state schools in Queensland through two programs:

• Bus Fare Assistance - Supports families who pay more than the weekly threshold in bus or ferry fares.

• Students with Disability - Assists students with a disability who have demonstrably different transport needs from other students of the same age.
