Full steam ahead
After a year filled with successful performances during our centennial celebrations in 2023, we are eager to see the continued growth and development of our music students.
All ensembles have resumed rehearsals, and our Music students, in collaboration with their instrumental instructors, are busy planning out their musical learning journeys for 2024.
Jazz Cabaret Evening - 22 March
On Friday 22 March, all Years 9 to 12 Music students will take part in a Jazz Cabaret. Years 5 to 8 students involved in Senior Choirs, Concert Band and Orchestra will also be performing as part of these ensemble groups.
Senior School Music students will have the opportunity to showcase their talent through an array of music, jazz and blues items.
We are once again looking forward to performing at the Glen Eira Town Hall in Caulfield. The evening will commence at 6.30pm and conclude at 8.30pm.
Please come along with family and friends and enjoy an entertaining night of music. You are welcome to bring your own food and drinks. There will also be prizes.
Information on booking seats through Trybooking will be made available next week.
JAZZ CABARET AUDITIONS
Auditions commence Week 5 and will be held each lunchtime from Monday 26 February to 1 March. To audition, students must be in Year 9 or above.
REQUEST FOR PARENT HELPERS AND SMALL PRIZE DONATIONS FOR RAFFLES
If parents are available to help on the night, and/or can donate prizes/vouchers for the raffles, please contact Music Reception via music.admin@kilvington.vic.edu.au. Your assistance would be most appreciated.
Kilvington Music Week – 18 to 22 March
Kilvington Music Week provides an opportunity for all our students to showcase their talents. Throughout this week, our ensembles and choirs will entertain everyone during lunchtimes, kicking-off with the exciting 'Battle of the Bands' event.
Register for Battle of the Bands
Calling all student bands! We encourage you to participate in the Battle of the Bands competition on March 18. If you're interested, register your band names with the Music Captains and secure supervised rehearsal times on the Music Notice Board outside PVC7.
Friday Lunchtime Masterclasses
Friday Lunchtime Masterclasses are back up and running.
Masterclasses have proven to be a great stepping stone for young performers, creating a link between the practice room and the concert stage. During a session, students get the chance to perform their musical piece in front of a small group of supportive students and staff and get feedback on their performance.
Signup sheets for Senior Masterclasses are in the PVC foyer. There is no need to sign up for Junior Masterclasses - just turn up and join in.
- Junior Masterclass - Room 1AD14
- Senior Masterclass - Room PVC7
Students presenting a work with piano accompaniment are asked to bring along the piano part with them or pass it onto Mrs Kate Cole beforehand.
Moorabbin Music and Arts - 23 to 25 Feb
Over three days, the Kingston Arts Centre will come alive with music, art installations, creative workshops, thought-provoking exhibitions and family-friendly activities. The admission is free. You can find more information about the event here.
