Sport Update

Luke Bahramis, Head of Sport

We have certainly hit the ground running this year in Sport!

SENIOR SPORT

Our Senior School teams have made a terrific start to the season. A commendable 60 Year 12 students have enthusiastically stepped up to represent Kilvington in their final year.

The Year 12 teams have showcased their prowess by winning 11 out of 12 games in the first round against King David School, affirming our standing as a formidable force across all sports this season.

The Years 8 and 9 teams began their season against a tough opponent in Huntingtower. They worked well as a collective and produced some great results, ending the day with six matches to five ahead of Huntingtower, including an unlikely two draws in the Girls Basketball A and B teams.

Year 7 Interschool Sport will start in Term 2.

SWIMMING SEASON

Our Swimming team has already dived into their early morning training sessions, meeting twice a week before school, guided by our new Swimming and Athletics Coordinator, Miss McLaren. The students are gearing up to represent Kilvington at the EISM Swim Meet scheduled for Tuesday 12 March.

While it’s still Swimming season, Athletics is not far away. The House Athletics Carnival is set for Tuesday 19 March, and our teams have already begun their training and tryout sessions.

NEW INITIATIVES

Our new Sport Co-Leaders, Charlotte Whisstock and Bethany Allison, have been busy organising and helping run Swimming sports.

Additionally, they have implemented a new Basketball tournament, Basketball SLAM, for our senior students on Tuesday lunchtimes. Basketball SLAM has a been a huge hit and promises to be something the Kilvington community can look forward to in years to come.

Balaclava District Swimming Competition

Michelle Ryan, PE Teacher

On Thursday 22 Feb, 32 Years 3 to 6 students proudly represented Kilvington at the Balaclava District Schools Swimming Competition.

I am impressed with the dedication our students showed in the lead-up to the event, committing to early morning training sessions before school. It was very pleasing to see how much they all improved as a result of their hard work.

With a wonderful display of teamwork, Kilvington secured the runners-up position in the Small Schools Category, earning the Kieren Perkins Trophy! A big thank you to our swim coaches and staff who supported and attended the event.

Congratulations to all involved for this outstanding achievement!
