Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge
Article by Maria Muse, Library Leader, Canowindra Campus
The Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge is now open and Overnewton Anglican Community College is excited to be taking part!
The Challenge is open to all our Junior School students and aims to help young readers develop a lifelong love of reading.
It is not a competition; it is a personal challenge for children to read a set number of books by the end of August 2026.
Children from Prep to Year 2 are encouraged to read or ‘experience’ 30 books. Students from Year 3 to Year 4 are challenged to read 15 books.
This year’s Challenge theme is ‘Stories to discover. Stories to tell’. Stories can inspire and challenge us, and help us grow. They open our eyes to new worlds and new ways of thinking.
All children who meet the Challenge will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the Victorian Premier and former Premiers.
The titles from the Premiers’ Reading Challenge booklist which we have in our school library can be explored here.
Students can also access Premiers’ Reading Challenge titles via Wheelers ePlatform. These are eBooks which can be read on an electronic device, such as an iPad.
Explore Wheelers ePlatform here.
You can also contact our school’s Challenge coordinator, Mrs Maria Muse, with any questions.
Happy reading!
