A Snapshot into Spelling
Learning Experience Overview
During our morphology spelling lessons, we unpack our understanding of known words and explore how prefixes and suffixes change their meanings.
Learning Intention of Lesson
This week, we focused on the prefix non- and the suffixes -ive and -able.
What students were asked to do
We used a word matrix table to break our word into parts and, using our knowledge of base words, to complete a word builder task.
What you can do now to continue the learning at home from this experience
Use the provided anchor chart of prefixes and suffixes when reading with your child to unpack word meanings and how they can change. Additionally, ask your child to explain the meaning of the word nonsensical and use it in an entertaining sentence.
