Principals Weekly Update
Dear Armadale Community,
We are incredibly proud of the expertise, commitment and dedication of our teachers in ensuring that every student at APS receives a high-quality education. Our academic results have consistently exceeded those of similar schools and the state, with this strong performance sustained over the past five years, as reflected in our NAPLAN results. This success has not happened by chance; it is the result of strategic planning, a shared commitment to the APS Learning Model and our teachers’ ongoing focus on refining their practice so that every child can make the most of the learning opportunities provided. Just as importantly, we know that a strong partnership between teachers and families is essential to building the trust that underpins confidence and belief in what we are doing. Our results provide clear evidence that we are achieving highly, and we want our families to have confidence in this work, understand the intentional decisions behind it, and believe in the collective approach we are taking to ensure the best possible outcomes for every child.
Book Week – A Week of Celebrations
What a wonderful week of Book Week celebrations! It was fantastic to see the children dressed as their favourite book characters and sharing their love of reading with such enthusiasm. A huge thank you to our community for supporting the celebrations and to Miss Sozzi for organising a wonderful program of authors, illustrators and performances that brought books to life and inspired our students.
Our Book Parade was a highlight, with amazing costumes showcasing creativity and imagination. Our Year 6 leaders did a fantastic job hosting the parade, judging the category winners and organising a raffle, with books and book bags as prizes. Teachers also voted for a Junior and Senior Best Costume. It was wonderful to see our school community come together to celebrate a shared love of books and reading.
A big thank you to everyone who took the time to share a special book with the children. What a wonderful way to inspire a love of reading and help children discover the joy that books can bring. Your time and enthusiasm have made this a truly special experience for our students!

Working Bee - Friday 28 August 2:30-4:30pm
We continue to promote Responsibility as a key value at our school, and this term it is our current whole-school focus. This has influenced our decision to hold a whole-school working bee, providing every child with the opportunity to take responsibility for caring for our school grounds.
Our children are the main users of these spaces, so it is important that they understand that keeping our grounds clean, tidy and well cared for is everyone’s responsibility. All children will be involved in helping to ensure our school environment is a place we can all be proud of.
We also extend this invitation to our parent community. There are some tasks that require adult support and extra hands, and we would greatly appreciate your involvement. Please make the time to join us and help ensure that our school grounds are clean, tidy and safe for everyone to enjoy.
Staff PCMS Training
As a staff, we are committed to ensuring every child has the opportunity to optimise their learning. This term, staff participated in Positive Classroom Management Strategies (PCMS) training, exploring eight strategies designed to increase instructional time and student engagement. We are beginning by strengthening our implementation of the first strategy: establishing clear classroom behaviour expectations and rules. Staff reflected on behaviours that can interrupt learning and, importantly, “flipped the script” to identify the positive behaviours we want to see. This shared approach will help us create calm, consistent and engaging classrooms where every student can learn at their best.
