MITS Alumni roll call across Australia 

 

Of 41 students who’ve attended MITS and gone on to graduate Year 12 (including other than in Melbourne), 39 have been engaged in employment, further education or both in the first 18 months after school  That’s 95%! 

 

Congratulations to all these wonderful young people!

Alumni in Melbourne

In 2026, we have 6 Alumni studying in Melbourne: 3 students at University and 3 studying an apprenticeship at TAFE. 

 

Bruce Armstrong (Year 12 Class of 2024, St Kevin’s College/Batchelor community) – is in his first year at ACU, studying Exercise Science and living at Campus accommodation. 

 

Ruby Rosas (Year 12 Class of 2024, CGGS/Katherine community) – is studying Speech Pathology at Monash, Clayton, and living on Campus. She is also working part-time at MITS as a boarding co-ordinator.

 

Kendyn Brown (Year 12 Class of 2025, St Kevin’s College/Maningrida & Tiwi community) – is in his first year at the University of Melbourne, doing Extended Science and living at Trinity College.

Calvin Cook (Year 12 Class of 2023, Brighton Grammar School/Milikapiti community) - is in his 3rd year of and Electrical Apprentice ship with Appselec. 

 

Leo Ponto (Year 12 Class of 2024, St Kevin’s College/Ngukurr community) – is in his first year of a Plumbing Apprenticeship at Cooke and Dowsett Plumbing Group. 

 

Peggy Martin (Year 12 Class of 2025, Firbank/Bulman and Tiwi community) – is in her first year of a refrigeration apprenticeship with A.G Coombs. 

 

Alumni at work in Community 

Johnny Minjin (Year 12 Class of 2021, St Kevin’s College/Nganmarriyanga community) – Johnny is currently living at Wurrumiyanga, with his partner, and he has returned to the classroom as an education aide at Xavier College. He is really enjoying working with the Year 7 boys, including Men's Shed activities and a school excursion to the Tiwi Island museum.

Georgie (Gigi) Burrarawanga- Wilson (Year 12 Class of 2023/Darwin) 

Georgie is working for Pathfinders/Red Dust in the NT, as well as studying a Diploma in Community Services. His wonderful role-model work has recently resulted in his being nominated for one of the Aurizon Indigenous Achievements Award. Congratulations on your important work with young Indigenous mob Georgie.
