A Thank You to Our Community

A big thank you to everyone who helped make our school disco such a fantastic night! We are grateful to all the parents and staff who contributed their time and energy, with a special thank you to Sam Yap for the wonderful support in making the evening such a success. It was great to see our students enjoying themselves and our school community coming together.

This Friday on our school closure day, our teachers will be visiting the Jewish Museum of Victoria for professional learning. This experience will deepen our understanding of Jesus’ Jewish faith and heritage, how this shapes our Catholic faith and identity, and the important connections between Judaism, Christianity and other religious traditions. Through this learning, we hope to strengthen our understanding of interfaith relationships and how we can continue to foster respect, understanding and inclusion within our diverse school community.

2027 Class Formation – Student Friendships

As part of our class formation process for 2027, we will be asking each student to nominate five friends they feel they can work well with.

We encourage parents to discuss this with their children at home to help them think carefully about their choices. Students may nominate friends from their current year level or from the year level they will be entering next year.

The focus is not necessarily on choosing their best friends, but on identifying peers they feel comfortable learning alongside, can collaborate positively with, and believe they can work successfully with in the classroom.

Please remind your child that their nominations are one part of the class formation process and will be considered alongside a range of other factors to ensure balanced classes that support the learning, wellbeing and friendships of all students.

As you talk with your child, encourage them to think about the friends who help them to be a Respectful, Responsible and Resilient learner.

If you have any requests or information you would like to share regarding your child’s learning needs or class placement for 2027, please feel free to contact me at jwillmott@sjvmulgrave.catholic.edu.au before Cup Weekend – Sunday, 1 November.

Building Connections at John Hannah House

Our Grade 1/2B and 1/2C students recently visited John Hannah House, where they spent time with the residents playing games and sharing smiles and laughter. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to build connections across generations, show kindness and companionship, and put our SJV values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience into action. We are proud of our students for bringing joy to the residents and strengthening our connection with the wider community.
