SCHOOL LEADERSHIP MESSAGE

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
It has been another productive and positive few weeks at our school, with strong progress across a number of key areas.
One of the most visible improvements has been the installation of our new school signage, which is now in place and looking fantastic. We have received very positive feedback from our community, and it has already made a real difference to the presentation and sense of pride in our school. The artwork demonstrates our connection to Country and the orange colour represents our connection to the Korumburra community.
Our focus on improving student attendance continues to show pleasing results. Our attendance rate is sitting at 86.2%, with unexplained absences reduced to 7.6%. Thank you to families for your ongoing support in ensuring students attend school regularly. We have dramatically reduced chronic absences with the percentage of students with 20 or more days absent halved from this time last year and well below State and Similar Schools comparison. It helps students' sense of connection and belonging when they have good attendance at school.
Our continued work with Positive Classroom Management Strategies (PCMS) is also having a noticeable impact. We have seen a significant reduction in suspensions, reflecting improved student engagement and consistent approaches to behaviour across the school.
In terms of student learning, our recent NAPLAN results are not as strong as in previous years. We are currently awaiting comparative data, which will help us better understand these results and guide our next steps. It’s encouraging that our Attitudes to School Survey data remains stable, with most areas continuing to show slight improvements.
We have also been working behind the scenes on grant applications to support improvements to our oval which will further enhance our outdoor learning and play spaces if successful. We have also committed funding to install football nets, which was the next student voice priority after the playgrounds.
Finally, we were privileged to host the Deputy Secretaries of the Department of Education last week, providing an opportunity to showcase our school and discuss our future priorities. Student leaders proudly led the group on a tour of the school, impressing them with their pride and enthusiasm.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support of our school.
