ATTENDANCE AT KSC

STUDENT ABSENCES
Planning a family holiday during term time? Please read carefully.
We understand that family commitments and travel opportunities arise throughout the year. However, in secondary school, attendance plays a critical role in academic progress, assessment completion, and qualification success.
If you are considering time away during term:
Short absences (e.g. long weekends) may be recorded as a parent choice absence.
Extended holidays during term time require prior approval from the Principal. Approval is not automatic and will take into account your child’s attendance record, academic progress, and assessment schedule.
For approved absences, a Student Absence Learning Plan will be developed. Please note that this plan supports learning but does not replace in-class teaching, practical work, or assessment time. Missed assessments may not always be able to be rescheduled.
To avoid disruption to learning and credits, we strongly encourage families to plan extended travel during school holidays wherever possible.
If you are planning time away, please contact the school as early as possible to discuss next steps.
