Manosphere Considerations

The manosphere is influencing how some boys and young men think about women, relationships and masculinity. And, for the main part, not in a good way.

A young person’s journey often starts with relatable content, such as humour, self-improvement tips, gaming or fitness. But over time, the tone can shift. Algorithms and online communities can gradually amplify messages of resentment and misogyny, making extreme ideas seem relatable and normal.

So, what should parents and carers to know? First of all, rest assured: most boys and young men are resilient (and resistant) to these messages. But with some manosphere ideals seeping into the mainstream, parents and carers can help boost their child’s resilience.

  • Early, steady support matters. Our online safety advisory explains:
  •  What the manosphere is and why it appeals to young people
  •  How its messages spread through feeds and influencers
  •  How echo chambers reinforce conformity
  •  What parents and carers can do to support their child and foster positive masculinities.
