SIX ST JOEY'S SWIMMERS - Southern Metro Region Finalists!
We wish our 9/10 Year Girls Freestyle Relay Team (Isabella, Maggie, Billie and Pia) and our 12/13 Year Old Boys, Lachie Lever (Freestyle and Backstroke MC) and Alfred Hindle (Freestyle and Butterfly MC) all the best for their swimming events today at the REGION SWIMMING FINALS! Such a wonderful achievement for both themselves and in representing St Joseph's School, the Phillip District and the Southern Peninsula Division as the very best from these sectors.
To say that we are proud of all of them who competed is an understatement!

9/10yr Girls - 1st - Isabella, Pia, Maggie and Billie T.
11yr Boys - 6th - Charlie W, Jack B, Hamish, Billie M.

9/10 Girls - Backstroke - 4th -Pia (who only turns 9 this year)

12/13 Boys MC - 1st - Alfred
Unbelievable results with both Isabella (in two events) and Pia, also narrowly missing Region Finals, finishing 2nd.

We have just received the Region results of our studenys of which we are so very proud!
9/10 Year Girls freestyle relay - 4th (narrowly missing 3rd by a fingernail)
The girls were very pleased with tthemselves (and so they should be), wearing their well-deserved REGION HOODIES proudly!
Lachie was awarded 2nd in Freestyle MC and 2nd in Backstroke MC, a wonderful achievement at Region Level. He is hoping that he may still receive an invitation to the State Championships in his MC Classification, based on his times.
Alfred was awarded 1st in Freestyle MC and 1st in Butterfly MC and WILL NOW ADVANCE TO STATE SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS!

Whole School Cross Country - Term 2 Week 2 Monday 22nd April (tbc)
START TRAINING!!
This will be held at Sorrento Football Oval and we will require the help of many parents and teachers. An Operoo will be sent out early next term.
Estimated distances and age groups:
Prep - half a lap (approx 200m)
Yr 1 - 1 lap (450m)
Yr 2 - 2 laps (approx 900m)
Yr 3 - 3 laps (approx 1400m)
Yr 4 - 4 laps (approx 1800-2000m)
Yr 5 - 4 laps
Yr 6 - 4 laps
We hope to start Running Club again on Fridays before school. Stay tuned for more on this early next term.
Summer Lightning Premierships for Yr 5/6 - Term 2 Week 2 Wednesday 24th April
Students will compete in Fully Loaded Softball, Basketball and Volleystars on that day. It is expected that all students take part unless medically unwell. Parent help will be enlisted via the Operoo shortly and some year 4 students who play in these sports out of school may be invited to fill the teams where required.
