Celebrate the end of Deakin’s 50th anniversary year with a one-night only vibrant community festival!

The Deakin50 Burwood Community Festival is a vibrant celebration to mark the end of our 50th anniversary year at our iconic Burwood Campus.  

This one-night-only event features free children’s face painting and rides – from teacups and a pirate ship to a ferris wheel – food trucks offering a variety of delicious cuisines and a spectacular fireworks show. 

It’s an event for all-ages, bringing together diverse communities to celebrate the University’s progressive history and set the stage for our next 50 years.  

 

Deakin50 Burwood Community Festival 

Date: Friday 28 November 2025 

Time: 5pm-9pm 

Location: Car Park 1 and Bennettswood Oval, Burwood Campus

Get a taste of what you can expect on the night: 

  • Food trucks a plenty: Tuck into tasty dishes and treats – from dumplings, to burgers, pizza and fairy floss – there's something for everyone. 
  • Free children’s rides: Hop aboard the ferris wheel or spin to your hearts content on the cup and saucer, plus bring your best swashbuckling skills to the swinging pirate ship. 
  • Free activities: Unleash your curiosity, whether it’s getting up close with farm animals, mini-golf, colouring-in or rocking a colourful face paint design. 
  • Live entertainment: Enjoy fun DJ tunes, meet a crocodile in the flesh at our wildlife show and hang out with dinosaurs for a roaring good time! 
  • On-site bar open: Check out the Waterfront Pantry pop up bar for your beverage of choice. 
  • Breathtaking fireworks display: Finish the night with a bang and watch a spectacular show that lights up the Melbourne skyline. 

 

It's a perfect outing for families or anyone interested in being a part of Deakin’s history!
