State Athletics
I competed in the shot put event at State Athletics on Thursday 6th November. I was so excited to compete for my school. I had an amazing session on Tuesday and just before the competition. Although I didn’t receive a medal, I am so proud of myself for making it to State Championships. The effort I put in was the best I could do on the day. I focused on the process not the outcome.
I would love to give a big shout out to Mrs Cotterell and especially Ms Hocking for coming and supporting me. I am excited to try again at Nationals with the Victorian State team in Canberra in a few weeks.

Liverpool Academy Program
In Term 3, Essex Heights selected me to attend a Liverpool Academy program in partnership with Salesian College and I was awarded a Scholarship by the Principal of Salesian College. This is about my experience at the Liverpool International Academy. When I received the message that I was selected for this Academy, I was so excited and happy that I could attend. Going for this academy meant a lot to me because Liverpool Football Club is my favourite soccer team. So, attending this academy was like a dream come true. I am very grateful to both Essex Heights and Salesian College for presenting me this huge opportunity.
I was training in this academy for six weeks. Each week we learned about different soccer skills and Liverpool players. In weeks one and two, I learned about counter defending and body positioning and my role models for those weeks were the Liverpool players Virgil Van Dijk and Ryan Gravenberch. Counter defending is where you win the ball from the opposition team then rapidly switch to offense and try to score a goal. Body positioning is where you stand in different scenarios. In week three, I learned about my favourite part: SHOOTING! Which my role model Mohamed Salah is amazing at. In week four, I learned about attacking principles which are the elements of attacking and my role model was the late Liverpool player, Diogo Jota. In week five, we had a recap of what we had learned for the past four weeks. In my final week we had a mini 4v4 tournament. To conclude the training sessions, in weeks five and six we had a mini 4v4 tournament to showcase our skills and have some fun.
I play loads of soccer outside of school, but this training was different to my regular training. This training was all about doing it the Liverpool way. The Liverpool way of training was a different experience for me and it really brought out my individual skills and it will benefit my future soccer trainings. I would like to give a big shoutout to Ms Hocking and Mrs Cotterell for nominating me, and Salesian College for accepting me into the Liverpool Academy by awarding me a scholarship. Last but not least, to my parents for bringing me to the training centre and always encouraging me during the training sessions.
