James Kennedy
Hello everyone! My name is James and I joined PLSC in Term 3 as a Numeracy Teacher. I’m also the Year 10 Year Level Leader. It’s a great pleasure to be a part of this brilliant school community. I recently relocated to Australia from England, and the incredibly warm welcome I’ve had from everyone has really made me feel at home. Prior to joining PLSC, I was a secondary teacher for over twenty years, working mainly in Grammar Schools and at a private school in Kent.
In my spare time I enjoy watching old movies, reading travel books and walking nature trails. Since arriving, I’ve enjoyed embracing the wonderful Australian way of life, and have become a keen follower of Australian sports. I’m looking forward to visiting other parts of the country and exploring more of the great outdoors.
My aim as a teacher is to recognise and highlight the positives in every student. I always encourage students to try their best, and to understand that making mistakes and learning from them is an essential part of the journey towards success.

I am thrilled to introduce myself as the new Disability Inclusion, Engagement & Wellbeing Leading Teacher at Peter Lalor Secondary College.
I bring 15 years of experience working in schools, having previously served as a subject teacher, applied learning leader, and careers leader. These experiences have shaped my focus on supporting students through different stages of their education and planning for what comes next.
I’ve really enjoyed getting to know the students over my first term here and I’m eager to work alongside our wonderful staff to provide them with practical opportunities to develop their skills and build strong, successful pathways for their future.

I’m excited to be joining Peter Lalor SC in my new role in Disability Inclusion. My own education journey has shaped my passion for supporting students and helping them find a pathway that inspires and works for them. As a student, I found my own pathway through a non-mainstream education setting at the CAE, which led me to complete a Bachelor of Legal Studies at La Trobe University. I’m now completing my Master of Secondary Education and am excited to bring both my personal experiences and studies into my role.
Outside of school, I love playing tennis, practising yoga and mindfulness, travelling and making memories with my cheeky three year old son, River. I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone and being part of this wonderful school community!
