Year 10

James Kennedy - Year 10 Leader

The Year 10 students kept themselves busy through the chilly winter months with various fun and educational activities. There were WTS excursions involving podcasting activities, chocolate making and team building challenges. 10B organised a successful ‘Wear it Purple’ day, and raised awareness of the importance of inclusivity.

For their event, 10A organised a BBQ in aid of ‘R U Ok’ day to promote positive mental health.

Promoting good physical health throughout the college has also been high on the agenda for the Year 10s by way of fitness activities organised for PDS. Students and staff were able to get involved in a ‘Push up challenge’, Cornhole Games and a Volleyball Competition. Some staff were even brave enough to take part in an ice bucket challenge as part of the ‘Big Freeze’ initiative.

As their new Year 10 Coordinator, it was a joy for me to get to know all the wonderful Year 10 students and to watch them grow in confidence in their academic work and as members of the college community. I look forward to seeing the Year 10 students make further strides next term.

Year 11

Vici Petrovski - Year 11 Leader

The Year 11 cohort has had an engaging and activity-packed Term 3, with students working diligently towards completing their assessment tasks while also participating in a range of enriching learning experiences. Students visited Melbourne Zoo with a focus on conservation and sustainability and participated in an RSPCA excursion centred on community engagement and making a positive contribution to the wider community.

The cohort also enjoyed two exciting incursions, including a STEM Robotics session delivered by RMIT University and an informative session with Crime Stoppers. It has been wonderful to see our Year 11 students embracing these opportunities, developing new skills and broadening their learning beyond the classroom. We wish all our Year 11 students and their families a safe, relaxing and enjoyable Term 3 break, and we look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and ready for Term 4!

Year 12

Glenn Drummond - Year 12 Leader

As Term Three draws to a close, our Year 12 VCE Vocational Major students are entering the final and very important stage of their secondary schooling. Students are now working diligently towards the successful completion of their Unit 4 studies and the requirements of their VCE VM qualification. During these final weeks, all students are encouraged to maintain consistent attendance across their three scheduled VM days each week, as well as their VET studies and Work Placement commitments. Students are also encouraged to show initiative, communicate regularly with their teachers and take responsibility for completing the remaining Areas of Study and any outstanding assessment requirements.

Throughout Term Three, students have continued to work across each of their VCE VM subjects. As part of Work Related Skills (WRS), students participated in the Real Industry Job Interviews (RIJI) on Tuesday 8 September. In preparation for this valuable industry experience, students developed a professional employment portfolio incorporating their resume, cover letter, achievements and qualifications. The interview provided an opportunity for students to put their preparation into practice and further develop their communication, employability and interview skills. In Literacy, students have also been completing a major assessment over the final weeks of Term Three, demonstrating key skills and knowledge developed across the Areas of Study.

Students have also been actively involved in practical and community-focused learning. In Personal Development Skills (PDS), students have participated in community projects, including assisting with the College barbecue for Wear It Purple Day, helping to raise awareness of discrimination and the importance of creating an inclusive and supportive community. In Numeracy, students are progressing through their final Areas of Study, with a focus on Probability and Systematics. Across all four VCE VM subjects, the emphasis is now firmly on completing the remaining Unit 4 requirements and ensuring students are well positioned to successfully complete their qualification.

Looking ahead to Term Four, the final day of Year 12 classes will be Thursday 29 October, followed by the Year 12 Graduation on Thursday 12 November. Students are also now investigating and finalising their future pathway decisions for 2027 and beyond, including employment, apprenticeships, traineeships and further education or training. Students are strongly encouraged to communicate with the College Careers Team for advice and support as they make these important decisions. We wish all of our Year 12 students every success during their final weeks and encourage them to remain focused, attend consistently and finish their VCE VM journey strongly.
