Pyjama Day

This term the year 12s hosted a pyjama day where all staff and students came to school in their pyjamas and comfy clothes and donated non-perishable items to Encompass Care. The official day usually falls in late July (such as July 24, 2026), but schools and workplaces can host their own event anytime throughout July and August. It is an annual fundraising event where people wear their favorite pajamas to work, school, or childcare centers to raise money and awareness for children in foster care. It was a great day for the whole school to come together and have a sausage sizzle lunch, and compete in a table tennis tournament.

Wear it Purple Day

We celebrated Wear it Purple day on the 25th of August with the theme being “Colours of Courage”. Wear it purple is a day where everyone comes together to strive for a supportive, safe, empowering and inclusive environment for rainbow young people. The year 10s helped to support with a morning tea at Recess with some yummy purple frosted cupcakes. They also hosted a Cornhole Challenge at lunchtime to bring the school community together to raise awareness of anxiety and mental health.

Bullying No Way

The 17th to the 21st of August was Bullying No Way week. The theme for the week was “Small acts, big impacts”. Bullying causes serious harm. Knowing what bullying is, how to prevent it and how to respond when it does happen are key to building school communities that protect students from bullying and its harms.

It was important to promote these foundations in schools and everyday this week students in the homeroom learned ways to engage in acts of kindness to create impact and address bullying.

Crimestoppers Incursion

The crimestoppers incursion was presented for each year level. The incursion included conversations about real life crime scenarios and the legal aspects of people outside getting involved. They also spoke about how to anonymously report crime and keep yourself safe.

R U OK Day

On the 15th of September the school will celebrate R U Ok day, a very important day promoting that a conversation can change a life. The school will promote the 4 important steps to have these conversations:

  1. Ask R U OK?
  2. Listen
  3. Encourage Action
  4. Check in

This day is an important reminder that a single conversation can make a real difference and encourages us to check in with the people around us.

The wellbeing team gave out raffle tickets to students wearing yellow on the day and went into the draw to win tasty truck vouchers. The year 10 students helped to prepare lunch for the whole school and promoted physical wellbeing by facilitating a push up challenge.
