In Term two, MITS was lucky enough to commence a relationship with a regular Paediatrician – Dr Kathryn Roberts.

Dr Kath has a wealth of experience working in Indigenous health, having worked in the Northern Territory for the past 18 years, and having most recently been the Head of Paediatrics at Royal Darwin Hospital! Kath has worked extensively in remote communities across the NT and we couldn’t be more excited that she’s chosen to work with us! We will be running a ‘MITS-only’ Paediatric Clinic once a month through our friends at Access Health Richmond and our students have already really enjoyed meeting Dr Kath.

Term two involved lots of health checks and interventions – with all students encouraged to receive their flu injections, get up to date with their vaccinations, heart checks and eye checks.

Aside from physical health, our students continued to enjoy our regular visits from Headspace, who attend our school and boarding programs fortnightly to run fun workshops and encourage help-seeking amongst our students.

We hope everyone has a happy and healthy time back home and look forward to another excellent term in Term 3!
