Everyone would of made it home safe by the time you read this. It’s been a big finish to the term, full of learning, growing, and sharing some lovely cultural moments together.
One of the highlights was our whole-school dinner, where the students got stuck in and prepared roo tail stew. We then had some beautiful sharing of dances from home, in the lounge—it was a deadly night to be part of. Our young mob danced with a style and grace, just for them selves, which was beautiful to be a part off. Thanks to Alison, Judhil and Lia for sharing and bring spirit and cultural connection. We were so proud of each and every one.
We also headed off on another big camp this time to Samaria, where or mob formed two groups and took on the challenge of hiking up two different mountains. Yes they loved it. Over the weekends, our mob kept busy with trips to the movies, water parks, Bounce, and of course, big days of footy every Sunday.
We hope our mob enjoy their time at home with family and community. We can’t wait to see everyone back, ready to go for Term 3.

Biderap
Biderap started Term 2 off strong with the house almost at capacity within week 1. The students returned to Melbourne in such great spirts and continued with their high level of commitment. Again in term 2, we saw an increase in school attendance and participation in many extra curricular activities such as sports, drama performances and camps. We enjoyed hearing about the pride each student carried when returning to boarding each day.
During term 2, we had many fun and engaging activities such as Dreamtime at The 'G', State of Origin watch party and the Numawading Basketball tournament. We welcomed back the Swisse and Headspace teams to run great afternoon activities that foster connection and sense of belonging within Melbourne, which grew in participation from last term.
It was fantastic to welcome so many family visitors in Term 2. To have families engaged with students day to day, school visits and participation in boarding ensured that the students connection to home was present whilst in Melbourne. This continued connection supported such a strong end to Term 2 for many students.
We wish all the students a safe and happy school break and hope they use this time to reconnect to family, culture and country and return in Term 3 ready for another fantastic term.

The term’s focus on Culture was highlighted through Reconciliation Week and Dreamtime Week, providing meaningful opportunities for students to connect, reflect, and celebrate.
A key event was the annual Reconciliation Dinner, which brought together students, families, staff, and community members. The evening provided an opportunity to share stories, strengthen relationships, and reflect on the importance of reconciliation.
Dreamtime Week was another standout, with students proudly participating in the Guard of Honour at the MCG for the Dreamtime at the ‘G match. The week also reflected the strength of the MITS partnership with Richmond Football Club and the opportunities this continues to create for our young people.
Alongside the football and basketball seasons, students have embraced a wide variety of activities, including attending AFL and rugby games, golf, night markets, the aquarium, Melbourne Zoo, the Skydeck, and a range of in-house activities such as arts and crafts. These experiences have provided a strong balance between busy school routines and opportunities to relax, connect, and have fun together.
Academically, there has been a significant improvement in school attendance, and students remain committed to their homework sessions, demonstrating determination to stay on track with their learning.
Connection and wellbeing have remained a strong focus. Students spent time with Headspace engaging in activities such as board games and conversation, helping to strengthen relationships across the house in a relaxed and supportive environment. Everyday moments together, including shared meals, time outdoors, and contributing around the house, continue to build independence, teamwork and a strong sense of belonging.
Overall, Term 2 has been a positive and rewarding term. With the Arts Show coming up in Week 3 and many other exciting opportunities ahead, there is confidence that Term 3 will continue in the same positive direction.
