Merimbula Jazz Festival
The swing band wowed audiences again this year at the Merimbula Jazz Festival. Performances included MacDonalds, Club Sapphire, RSL club and the Pambula Beach Caravan Park. The band’s set included many swing standards such as Pennsylvania 6500 and Tuxedo Junction, a few Latin arrangements and vocal solos from Taj and Selwyn. Many people came up to us to say how much they enjoyed our performance but the best comment we received was how the band exuded great joy to the audience when they performed. Thanks to the staff for making this trip possible and to the parents who helped out. Particularly thanks Mark Perry for fixing the flat tyre on the trailer and driving the gear around town.
East Gippsland Music Festival
Information for the festival next week is up on Compass and requires parent/guardian approval. Students need to meet at the music centre with their instrument and in full school uniform on their rehearsal day to be ready to take a bus to Orbost for the day.
Hopefully, everyone has their trip to Orbost planned for the Gala Concert on the Thursday evening. Students will need to be there by 6:15pm for a 7:00pm start.
This is one of the big events on the music calendar which the students have been working hard towards and we are all looking forward to having a fantastic experience.
Music Uniforms
All music students should now have a red music shirt. If not, they can be collected from the music centre. This shirt is to be worn with black dress pants or skirt and fully black shoes with black socks or tights. We prefer skirts not to be too short and to be worn with tights.
There are a number of black items in the music centre which are free to anyone who wants them. This includes two pairs of size 8 lace up shoes (girls and boys pair). Interested students need to see Mrs Green in the music centre.
