Gippsland Cross Country

On Thursday 6th June, 23 BSC students travelled to the Drouin Golf Course to compete in the Gippsland Region Cross Country Championships. Running in sunny conditions, on a very picturesque course, the day was not without drama. The 12 -13 Boys, our very first race, took a wrong turn early and had to be redirected to get back on track, causing a lot of grief for the competitors race plans. A long analysis of the race eventually saw them taking 16 competitors through to state level, 4 more than usual, to allow for the confusion. We were lucky enough to have Ahren make it through in 8th position, but our other 3 boys in that age group weren’t too far behind and should be happy with their efforts.

The best result of the day was Patrick taking home 3rd place in the 17-20 yr Boys race, and notably, Kailee and Rita had very strong runs to lock in top 10 finishes. So, well done to them both.

All our students competed extremely well on the day, gaining our best results in nearly 10 years. 5 in total made it through to compete at the State Championships on 18th July, at the Yarra Valley Racecourse. Well done and keep up the training.

12-13 yo Boys - Ahren

15 yo Girls - Kailee

16 yo Girls – Rita

17–20 yo Boys – Campbell and Patrick

Basketball

In a whirlwind of games, the Senior Boys teams of A and B sides, competed well on the day. Our teams were victorious against both Nagle College and Lakes Entrance with our A team progressing through to Gippsland level after beating our B team in a decider.

The Senior Girls team progressed through to regional level automatically with no opponent registered but will find tough competition ahead. They will compete at the Gippsland Championship 13th August.

Hockey

At the wonderful new synthetic hockey field in Wallace St, the very impressive Mixed Senior team delivered a strong win against our rivals in Nagle, with an emphatic score of 16 – 1. They are determined to find success at the next level on 25th July.

Table Tennis

We were lucky enough to take 2 teams to the fantastic Table Tennis Centre in Lucknow. This event allowed the senior students a chance to unwind from their studies and show off some Table Tennis Talent, better known as the 3T’s. Both of our teams excelled on the day to claim wins in the majority of their matches, displaying slick skills to progress through to Gippsland Championships on 19th July.

Gippsland Simulated Clay Target Championship

BSC was represented by 4 students at the Sale F and G complex at Longford on Monday 17th June. Our students had mixed results on the day with the targets degree of difficulty varying quite a bit. Each competitor was allowed to have 2 scoring shots at each target. In total there were 10 targets and 20 attempts. In a very well-run event, Sara came away with 2nd to her opponent by 1pt in the Senior Female section. Chris, Shrader and Jack were happy with their efforts, but know in a large field of 160 competitors, practice is the key to success. Well done.
