Year 9 What’s on the Menu had to plan what might be a healthy meal for an athlete this week. They then had to produce their dish and evaluate it.
The Year 9 Biological Systems class have been studying internal systems this term. One of the systems studied was the excretory system and as part of this they had the opportunity to dissect a kidney to study its structure. The students approached this with a range of enthusiasm, but by the end even those that had started off a bit reluctant found that it was an interesting and enjoyable practical.
We would like to introduce the newly appointed Wurrin Student Support Team.
We welcome Keyanna Hood (Koorie Student Support Leader) to our BSC staff. Keyanna will join our Student Support Officers Jemma Storer and Kylie Fordham. This dedicated team is committed to enhancing student engagement so that teaching and learning can be prioritised.
Keyanna will be able to provide specialised support for all of our students, with a particular focus on our Koorie students through fostering a culturally inclusive environment. She will join with Jemma and Kylie to support the student body in collaboratively addressing needs and challenges that might be impacting learning experiences. Establishing respectful and caring relationships are a powerful aspect and influence on positive and successful student outcomes and our team has been selected because we believe they have these strengths. Together, they will create a supportive and engaging atmosphere throughout the Wurrin building empowering students to achieve their full potential and succeed academically. Our Schoolwide Positive Behaviour Support Matrix will underpin the thinking and actions of the team.
Homework club is held in the Senior building every Wednesday and Thursday. This is open for ALL students at our College.
Homework club is a terrific opportunity for students to both catch up or get ahead in work. Students are offered the opportunity to work in small groups with other students or have one on one tutoring with their teachers, or other teachers.
If you are interested, speak with your teachers and let them know when you are looking to attend or go to the Senior building on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons.
Homework club runs from 3.20 pm to 5.00 pm and students are free to arrive and leave as they need.
