Athletics

Athletics was held on Thursday 20th June, it was a bit chilly, but the sun was shining. Everyone had fun dressing up in their house colours and the Year 12 students wore some fun costumes too.

The GAT

This week the GAT was held for 187 students and sat in 2 parts.

What is the GAT (General Achievement Test) you might ask?  The GAT assesses skills in Mathematics, Science, Technology, Arts and Humanities.  Sitting the GAT is an opportunity to demonstrate your literacy and numeracy skills.  GAT results are important for checking if school-based assessments have been accurately and fairly assessed, and can be used if you have a Derived Examination Score approved.

Between Section A and B of the GAT - Student relaxed with a movie, games, table tennis, footy and a hot pie.

Students at work!

Year 11 PDS students hosted The Biggest Morning Tea on Monday 17th June in the hospitality room. Paige worked tirelessly developing a delicious menu, supervising the cooking of the treats and showing her creative talents with the decoration of the room. Staff attended and enjoyed the scrumptious snacks.

Year 12 VM students have been involve in some crazy team building activities as part of their Personal Development Program. Last week they made some amazing formal wear using newspaper, sticky tape, feathers and a great deal of imagination. The results were stunning, and the teamwork and collaboration was pleasing to see.

Year 11 PDS student Chloe has been busy organising the chook pen near Victoria Street. Chloe was given three chickens - Henny, Penny and Chicken Little. She cleaned out the pen, organised food and water as well as kitchen scraps to keep the girls happy. Hopefully the chickens will be happy in their new home. Many thanks to Chloe for being the driving force behind this project.

Year 12 VET Hospitality students have been busy running their café, preparing, presenting, and serving a range of beverages. In Term 3, they will shift their focus to café food, covering the units required for their Certificate II in Hospitality they are completing this year.
