JATNET Japanese Speech Competition & Eastern Shore Languages Fair

On Friday 28 August, Annabel Henderson, Katie Truran, Lily McGee and Scarlett McShane proudly represented our school at the JATNET Secondary Japanese Speech Competition at Rosny College.

In the Year 9 and Year 10 divisions, students responded to a series of questions in Japanese, demonstrating their ability to understand questions and communicate their responses clearly and confidently. Students were assessed on their pronunciation, intonation, fluency and body language.

We were incredibly impressed by the commitment, enthusiasm, perseverance and confidence demonstrated by these students. Preparing for the competition required dedication and plenty of practice, and it was fantastic to see them put their hard work into action on the day. Responding to questions in Japanese in front of a panel of judges is no small achievement, and all four students should be very proud of their efforts.

The students also had the opportunity to attend the Eastern Shore Languages Fair, joining students from across the area for a celebration of language learning and cultural diversity. They participated in a range of interactive activities and events in the gymnasium, providing opportunities to explore different languages and cultures and engage with other students who share an interest in language learning.

It was a fantastic day of language, culture, connection and learning, made even better by sharing a sushi lunch together!  It was wonderful to see the students enjoying the experience, supporting one another and representing our school with such enthusiasm and pride.
