Celebrating Our Olympic Alumni: Abbey Caldwell and Steph Ratcliffe
We are thrilled to congratulate our outstanding alumni, Abbey Caldwell and Steph Ratcliffe, for their remarkable achievements on the world stage at the recent Paris Olympic Games. Their dedication, resilience, and talent have made us all incredibly proud.
Abbey Caldwell showcased her exceptional speed and determination in the highly competitive 800m event. After placing 5th in her Heat, Abbey's grit shone through in the Repechage round, where she came first, securing her spot in the semi-final. Competing against the world’s best, Abbey delivered a heroic performance, finishing in 5th place with a time of 1:58.52—just shy of her personal best of 1:58.48. Her journey through the rounds was a testament to her hard work and unwavering spirit.

Steph Ratcliffe also made us proud with her powerful performance in the women’s hammer throw. Despite facing a challenging lead-up to the Games due to an injury that sidelined her training for three months, Steph's determination never wavered. She made an inspiring comeback, throwing over 70 meters in June to qualify for the Olympics. In Paris, Steph finished 15th with a throw of 70.07 meters, a remarkable achievement given the obstacles she overcame.
At just 23 years old, both Abbey and Steph have already accomplished so much, and we are confident that their future in athletics is incredibly bright. We look forward to cheering them on as they continue to excel, and we can’t wait to see what they achieve at the Los Angeles Games in 2028!
Abbey and Steph, your College community is immensely proud of you. Congratulations on your incredible efforts, and thank you for inspiring us all!
