College Activities & Information
Are you going to Stride or Glide?
Our Year 9 MyFitness and MyCityPlanning classes are working on a community project with Manningham Council and VicHealth, called Stride or Glide. The aim is to encourage more students to walk or ride to school, promoting healthier lifestyle choices.
Look out for more promotion around the school about why you might want to get involved in this competition There are prizes up for grabs!!!
On Monday 26th August, we were excited to have representatives from the Manningham Council and VicHealth come on campus and view our work to date on this project.
Congratulations to our Intermediate Girls Soccer
Earlier this month, our Intermediate Girls Soccer team reached an incredible milestone by advancing to the Eastern Metropolitan Regional finals. This achievement reflects the team's dedication, skill, and hard work.
Up against the formidable Rowville Secondary College team, our girls displayed tremendous talent and teamwork on the field. Every pass, tackle, and shot highlighted their commitment to the game and to each other. Although we didn't bring home the final win this time, we are immensely proud of the determination and sportsmanship shown by our team.
A special congratulations goes out to our coach, Year 12 student Portland T., whose leadership and passion for the game have been instrumental in guiding the team to the finals.
Students Shining in Maths
At the end of Term 2, our school hosted the Computational and Algorithmic Thinking (CAT) competition. CAT provides students with the opportunity to enhance their problem-solving skills through algorithmic thinking. The competition features unique ‘three-stage tasks’ that encourage students to develop informal algorithms and apply them to progressively larger or more complex test data.
The results are in, and we are pleased to announce that eight students received Distinction awards, placing them in the top 15% of their year and region.
The awardees are:
- Amelie M. of Year 7
- Kaylie L. of Year 8
- Alexandra C. of Year 9
- Lucas H. of Year 9
- Diego M. of Year 9
- Isabelle V. of Year 9
- Brian W. of Year 9
- George D. of Year 9
In addition, George D. of Year 9 received the Best of School award.
Congratulations to all our distinguished students for their outstanding achievements!
2024 DSC Senior 3x3 Basketball Final
THE JOHN TIMMS SHIELD
This term, the DSC Stadium has been electric as 3x3 Basketball teams battled fiercely during lunchtime for the ultimate prize — the John Timms Shield. Last Thursday, fans were treated to not one but two semis as four teams—Bulls, Rhinos, Boars, and Eagles—stepped onto the court for a showdown that will be remembered for a handful of lunchtimes to come.
The atmosphere was charged with excitement as fans packed the stands, eagerly anticipating what promised to be an unforgettable lunchtime spectacle. And the players did not disappoint! From the first whistle, the semi-finalist teams unleashed a display of basketball brilliance that left the crowd in awe. Hustle, precision, and sheer determination were on full display as the Bulls and Rhinos clawed their way to the grand final.
In the end, it all came down to this—the final face-off between the Bulls and the Rhinos. Both teams left everything on the court, but only one could emerge victorious.
A huge congratulations to the Rhinos, who triumphed over the Bulls to become the 2024 DSC Senior 3x3 Basketball Champions, proudly securing the coveted John Timms Shield!
